Radon ProductionProduction
Radon is obtained as a by-product of uraniferous ores processing after transferring into 1% solutions of hydrochloric or hydrobromic acids. H2, O2, He, Rn, CO2, H2O and hydrocarbons- containing gas mixture extracted from the solutions is purified removing H2 and O2 after which on 1000°K - heated copper grids and by KOH and P2O5 sorption - from acids and moisture. Radon is condensed by liquid nitrogen and purified from residue gases by sublimation.
